At least six armed men robbed a money transfer service outlet in Parañaque City before noon Tuesday, shooting it out with a passing police patrol team while escaping.
Parañaque City police said they chanced on the robbers as they were fleeing from a Western Union outlet, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.
"May nakatawag pansin, may nangyayaring commotion sa Western Union. Pinara ng mobile namin ... biglang nagkaputukan," PO3 Carlos Cachapero of the Parañaque City police said.
He said they were patrolling along Dr. A. Santos Street at the time of the incident.
Cachapero said the men were wearing denim jackets and had no masks.
When asked if they could obtain closed-circuit television footage, he said the robbers could have been too far for CCTV cameras to capture.
It was not immediately clear how much the robbers took. —KG, GMA News
