Deadline for 'Smile for the World' photo contest for Pinoys worldwide extended to April 30
The “Smiles for the World: a Filipino Photo Essay Contest for Calidad Humana” is accepting submissions, announced Deputy Consul General Theresa Dizon-de Vega.
The contest is open to all Filipino citizens regardless of age, place of residence and occupation. The February deadline has been extended to April 30, 2013.
The contest is intended to showcase through the medium of photography and a short essay the delight of the Filipino smile as an expression of human qualities, such as friendship, steadfastness, cheerfulness, optimism, fortitude and resilience.
Entries should include:
• An original, preferably an 8×10 photo, taken with any camera of one or more existing Filipinos in an identifiable setting
• A catchy tagline of 140 characters max that can be used to spread Filipino qualities to the world
• A corresponding message that captures the spirit behind the Filipino smile with explicit reference to ‘calidad humana,’ 200 words max
Prizes for winning entries include a roundtrip ticket with accommodations to Brazil and Chile and cash prizes of $400 to $1,000. The contest is co-sponsored by the Embassy of Chile and the Embassy of Brazil in the Philippines.
