Police on Tuesday morning tightened security at the Supreme Court in Manila in time for the resumption of arguments on the Anti-Cybercrime Act of 2012.
The Manila Police District kept close watch over the high court's premises along Padre Faura Street for groups staging demos against the law, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported.
Police also reminded organizers of protests against the law to check their own ranks and keep their actions peaceful and orderly.
Militant groups were expected to march to the Supreme Court Tuesday as oral arguments on the Anti-Cybercrime law were to resume.
Last week, the Supreme Court postponed the resumption of the oral arguments on the controversial Anti-Cybercrime Act for one week.
Supreme Court clerk of court Enriqueta Vidal said the oral arguments are to resume at 2 p.m.
Several petitions had been lodged with the high court, challenging the legality of the law, which they said may infringe on their rights.
Many opponents of the law are wary of its provisions on electronic libel, cybersex, and the authority for the Department of Justice to take down websites seen to be violating the law. —KG, GMA News
