Tennis: Djokovic, Azarenka are the top seeds for the 2013 Australian Open
Novak Djokovic and Victoria Azarenak were named the top seeds for the 2013 Australian Open, the tournament's organizers announced Monday.
The first grand slam of 2013 sees Novak Djokovic, the reigning two-time event champion, as the top men's seed, followed by Roger Federer, Andy Murray and David Ferrer, with Tomas Berdych rounding out the top five.
Finishing the top 10 are Juan Martin del Potro at sixth, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga seventh, Janko Tipsarevic eighth, Richard Gasquet ninth, and Nicolas Almagro tenth.
Rafael Nadal, ranked fourth in the world, pulled out earlier this month due to a stomach virus.
Victoria Azarenka, reigning women's champ, is followed by Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Agnieszka Radwanska, and Angelique Kerber, to form the top five.
Li Na is sixth, followed by Sara Errani, Petra Kvitova, Sam Stosur, and number ten seed Caroline Wozniacki.
The Australian Open is slated for January 14 to 27. - AMD, GMA News
