Kobe Bryant sank a jumper at the 7:55 minute mark of the second period to up his total to 31,421 points, moving two points ahead of Wilt Chamberlain's 31,419 as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings, 103-98, on Sunday (PHL time).
The win kept the Lakers and the Utah Jazz tied in the Western Conference, both teams possessing 38-36 records to contest the last playoff berth there. Right behind them are the 36-37 Dallas Mavericks, a game and a half back.
Bryant scored a total of 19 points with 14 assists and nine boards in an outing that cemented his place behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), and Michael Jordan (32,292).
Dwight Howard led the Lakers in point production with 24 points, while Jodie Meeks added 14. Pau Gasol had 12 points with 10 assists, as the Spaniard and Bryant combined for 24 dimes to make up for Steve Nash's two-minute appearance in the game.
Tyreke Evans had 21 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for Sacramento, while DeMarcus Cousins and Marcus Thornton had 19 and 18, respectively. - RAF, GMA News
