Industrial outsourcing firm AG&P to expand hiring as demand grows
AG&P, an industrial process outsourcing company, will hire more workers this year to support the continued expansion of its global business, the company noted in an e-mailed statement Thursday.
The company plans to have about 6,000 workers onsite by the end of 2013, or more than double its current workforce of approximately 3,000. It said its recent joint venture with Fluor Corp., a Fortune 500 company, will create around 1,500 new jobs.
To support this expansion, AG&P’s technical school will continue to offer courses certified by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in its in-house world-class training facilities with a capacity to train over 1,500 workers annually.
AG&P provides modular engineering, fabrication, modular construction and asset support services to the oil and gas, mining, power and civil infrastructure sectors.
“Working in the Philippines from two major yards totaling 150 hectares, the largest in SE Asia, AG&P delivers mission-ready modules to the world’s most important clients, optimizing cost, quality and safety while enhancing the constructability, flexibility and reusability of critical infrastructure projects,” the company said.
Fluor Corp. is one of the world’s leading publicly-traded engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance and project management companies.
“Continuing our legacy of operational excellence and safety, we conduct our training in-house to ensure that AG&P craftsmen are not only skilled, but are also immersed in our health, safety, environment and quality culture as a way of life,” Alexander Genil, vice president
of human resources, said.
Upon gaining employment with AG&P, employees undertake intensive courses in industrial welding, structural and pipe fitting, scaffolding, insulation and mill, crane and heavy equipment operation to develop the skills they need when they work on projects abroad.
AG&P training offers globally recognized qualifications including SMAW, 3G, 4G, 6G/FCAW, and GTAW, ensuring that AG&P professionals are accredited to American, Japanese, Australian and
European standards.
Genil said training its workers to the highest standards is the company’s strategic commitment and vital to its success as a local company with a global footprint.
“AG&P’s training and accreditation program is designed to build highly-skilled manpower that can ultimately be deployed within our award-winning Overseas Manpower Division,” Genil said.
Currently, it partners with some of the largest multinational customers not only in the Philippines but also in North America, Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Europe and Africa. — VS, GMA News
