Another victory highlighted the final round of the 2013 Callaway Junior World Championships as the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines' pair of Princess Superal and Daniella Uy combined forces to win the girls' 15-17 team title at the Torrey Pines Golf Club's North course on Friday
(Sataurday, PHL time).

With a combined 144 to close out the competition, Superal and Uy wound up with a 576 total, beating the fancied Thailand duo of Ornicha Konsunthea and Benyapa Niphatsophon (144-583) by seven strokes. In third place were Japanese partners Kana Nagai and Ayami Noguchi (147-584).

This is the third crown of the 38-member Philippine contingent assembled by the JGFP, headed by chairman Gerry Handog and president Luigi Tabuena. On Friday, Pauline del Rosario, one of the top bets from the ICTSI team, and Kristoffer Arevalo dominated the girls' and boys' 13-14 division.

Uy, meanwhile, placed second in the individual race with 286 after an even par 72 in the premiere division for the girls race eventually topped by Hawaii's Mariel Galdiano (71-279). Superal was at sixth spot with a 72 for 290.

In the boys' 15-17 at the Torrey Pines' nearby South layout, Raymart Tolentino (76) and Rupert Zaragosa (77) were tied for 40th with 300 each. Costa Rica's Jose Mendoza won with 73 for 283. In the team play, they placed seventh overall.

Japan's Kuranosuke (60-181) and India's Shubham Jaglam (63-184) were 1-2 in the boys' 7-8 division. Sean Granada (63-195), who will compete in next week's US Kids Golf Championship, placed eighth.

Over in North Carolina, Cyna Rodriguez goes on to the match play phase in the Women's North and South Amateur Championship after placing 12th in the three-day stroke play qualifier at the Pinehurst No. 4 course.

Rodriguez, who added two titles under her belt in the last three weeks, had a 54-hole aggregate of 217. Low medalist was Hayley Bettencourt, who beat Ashlan Ramsey and Mariah Stackhouse via count-back. All ended with 212s.

The Filipina will battle Ally McDonald in the first duel match. - RAF, GMA News
