An Egyptian security guard now faces trial before a United Arab Emirates (UAE) court for allegedly intercepting and molesting a Filipina last September.

The guard, 26, was accused of touching the woman and of soliciting sex from her for Dh1,000 (P11,154), according to a report posted Friday on news site Khaleej Times.

He has been charged with molestation by the Court of First Instance, the report said.

The incident occurred behind the Police Academy in Jumeirah, the court learned.

During the prosecution investigation, a policeman testified he was on patrol duty when he learned about the incident.

He said he saw the Filipina, who told him the security guard intercepted her while she was walking home.

She said the guard put his hand on her shoulder and hugged her, then offered to pay her Dh1,000 if she had sex with him, but she ran away.

The guard was arrested and was confronted by the Filipina. He admitted he intercepted and touched her and offered her paid sex, then apologized to her in English.

Another security guard, an Indian, said he was on duty when he saw the complainant running in his direction at about 11:15 p.m., sweating and looking terrified.

He said he called the police after learning the Filipina was sexually harassed. He also said he witnessed the accused apologizing to the Filipina in front of the policemen. — TJD, GMA News
