It may be lagging behind in the smartphone department, but Finnish
phone maker Nokia is offering a new range of feature phones for the
budget-conscious, with two major come-ons: Internet access and low
price.
Nokia debuted two 3G-capable feature
phones, the 207 and 208, that cost just $68 (P2,951.54), tech site
Mashable reported Thursday.
"Available in red,
cyan, yellow, white and black, the handsets have Nokia's traditional
'candybar' design. They offer Internet-connection sharing, and come
pre-installed with Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp," Mashable said.
It quoted Timo Toikkanen, executive vice-president of Nokia's Mobile
Phones division, as saying the 207 and 208 are for people who like a
classic phone and traditional keypad, "but don't want to miss out on
smartphone experiences, like staying connecting to social media and
accessing the Internet."
While the 207 and 208
both cost the same, the 208 has a camera with smart features, and comes
in dual SIM and single SIM versions.
Mashable cited a February report by Nielsen showing mobile consumers in developed markets tend to prefer smartphones.
