Sellers of improted cars on Wednesday reported a 14-percent year-on-year rise in sales in January to November.
 
The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) reported that sales reached 26,272 units from 23,012 in the same comparable period.
 
"It was a good year for Avid, driven by the persistently positive economic environment Maria Fe Perez-Agudo, AVID president, noted in a statement.

But year-on-year sales in November dropped by 15 percent to 2,263 units from 2,672, plagued by delays in deliveries, AVID noted.
 
The sales report reflected the performances of British United Automobiles Inc. (MINI), The Covenant Car Co. Inc. (Chevrolet), and Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (Hyundai), with increases of 28 percent, 23 percent, and 8 percent, respectively.
 
Sales in passenger cars grew 21 percent to 15,320 units from 12,660, said AVID. — VS, GMA News
