The death toll from Tropical Cyclone Pablo rose anew Wednesday, reaching 1,047 as of 6 a.m., the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC identified the latest fatality as Rene Pilipinosas of Montevista town in Compostela Valley.

Of the 1,047 dead, it said 692 have already been identified, even as 841 people remain missing.

The NDRRMC said Pablo has so far affected 701,257 families or 6,203,991 people in 2,911 villages in 312 towns and 40 cities in 34 provinces.

Of these, 4,869 families or 21,403 people are being served in 63 evacuation centers.

At least seven areas in Region 10, Caraga and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao are experiencing water disruptions.

Damage was estimated at P24,222,823,528.07, including P7,822,986,310 in infrastructure, P16,350,605,805.07 in agriculture, and P49,231,413 in private properties.

At least 65,537 houses were destroyed while 101,758 were damaged.

The NDRRMC also said six provinces, 44 towns and three cities are under a state of calamity, with Kabacan in Cotabato being the latest to declare such a state. — LBG, GMA News
