After breaching the 1,000 mark, the death toll from tropical cyclone Pablo continued to go up, reaching 1,043 on Monday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
 
In its 8 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said that of the 23 additional fatalities, 22 were from Monkayo and one was from Compostela in Compostela Valley.
 
Of the fatalities, 645 have been identified so far, even as 844 remained missing and 2,662 were injured.
 
The NDRRMC said Pablo had affected 701,224 families or 6,203,826 people in 2,910 villages in 312 towns and 40 cities in 34 provinces.
 
Of these, 6,608 families or 25,953 people are staying in 63 evacuation centers.
 
Damage was estimated at P24,160,920,528.05, including P7,761,431,310 in infrastructure, P16,350,529,805.05 in agriculture and P48,959,413 in private properties.
 
At least six provinces, 43 towns and three cities are under a state of calamity.
 
At least 11 bridges and four roads remain impassable while 33 areas are experiencing power interruption.
 
Some areas in Davao Oriental are still experiencing communication interruptions.
 
The NDRRMC also said at least 65,537 houses were destroyed while 101,758 were damaged. —KG, GMA News
