Pacquiao says he 'passes' MRI test, cleared to continue boxing
Four days after being knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez, Filipino boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao got the green light from doctors to resume his "sports activities."
Pacquiao underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test in San Juan City to check for injuries to his head and body, according to a report on dzBB radio early Friday.
He had gone to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City Thursday afternoon and underwent the MRI exam to make sure he did not suffer ill effects from Sunday's bout.
A separate report on "Saksi" said Pacquiao underwent the exam for his head and cervical spine.
"Everything is okay, no problem, masayang-masaya," he said after the medical test.
Pacquiao also said he is confident he can bounce back from the drop he suffered in pound-for-pound rankings by sports magazines.
The dzBB report said Pacquiao dropped in Sports Illustrated's pound-for-pound fighter list from third to sixth, and in Ring Magazine's list from second to seventh.
"Hindi pa tapos ang lahat, pwede pa tayo lumaban uli. Ang boxing hindi naman forever ka doon sa taas," Pacquiao said.
"At least nakapagbigay tayo ng record na hindi makakalimutan sa history ng boxing, eight divisions," he added. — LBG, GMA News
