The United States Embassy in Manila will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
"(The US Embassy in Manila) and its affiliated offices will be closed to the public on Monday, January 21, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day," the embassy said on its Twitter account.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a floating federal holiday in the US, and is observed on the third Monday of January.
King advocated non-violent activism in the civil rights movement, which protested racial discrimination in federal and state law.
Last December, the Philippine Embassy in Washington said it will also be closed on Jan. 21, which it said is a holiday in the US.
The Philippine Embassy in Washington said the public may contact it via telephone numbers 202-368-2767 or 202-467-9300 in case of emergencies. - VVP, GMA News
