The peso moved sideways to slightly strengthen on Wednesday as investors were in a wait-and-see attitude for more financial market news.
The Philippine unit ended Wednesday's trade stronger by 2.5 centavos to 40.69=$1, compared to Tuesday's 40.715=$1 close.
Volume was down by nearly two-fifths to $498.5 million, from $842.285 million the day previous.
"The peso marginally moved today in line with regional currencies as investors are awaiting for the results of the central bank meeting and US jobs data," a trader said, citing the low trading volume registered Wednesday.
The trader sees the peso moving range bound at 40.60 to 40.70 per dollar on Thursday, as offshore data and announcements are likely to affect Friday's trading. — BM, GMA News
