Tropical Depression Emong (Bagyong Emong 2013) has maintained its strength as it slightly accelerated, state weather bureau PAGASA reported.

At 4am Monday, June 17, 2013, the center of Bagyong Emong was spotted at 300 kilometers East of Virac, Catanduanes, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 13 kph.

No public storm warning signal has been raised so far.

Weather experts said the estimated rainfall amount is from 5 to 15 millimeters per hour (moderate to heavy) within the 300-km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

Emong is still far to directly affect any part of the country. However, it will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the weather bureau said.

PAGASA warns Bagyong Emong is likely to intensify within the next 24 to 48 hours.
