The Smart Gilas Pilipinas contingent to the Super Kung Sheung Cup saved their best performance for last as they defeated the  Southern California Fukienese Association (SCFA) representing the United States of America 81-77 in the finals of the Hong Kong Invitational tournament.

Gilas battled from behind to keep their immaculate record in the tournament. the combination of professional and amateur players representing the Philippines were down 45-40 at the half. However, they were able to trim the lead to 1 at 60-59 to start the fourth quarter.

Marcus Douthit led Gilas with 19 points wand he was backed up by Gary David with 14. Kevin Alas and Garvo Lanete added 12 points apiece. Former San Beda captain Jake Pascual also chipped in 8 points while Justin Melton, Mattew Ganuelas, and Greg Slaughter combined for 11 points.

Alas was named the MVP of the tournament as he averaged 13 points in five games for Gilas. -
