he Golden State Warriors continue to show that they are a team to be reckoned with this season.

The plucky Warriors went into the American Airlines Arena in Miami and took down the defending champions on a late basket by rookie Draymond Green, 97-95, Wednesday (Thursday, PHL time).

With the win, Golden State improved to 15-7, just behind the 16-6 Los Angeles Clippers, who beat the Charlotte Bobcats on the same day, in the Pacific Division. The Warriors are currently 5-0 on a seven-game road trip, which will wrap up against the Orlando Magic and the Atlanta Hawks.

Miami on the other hand, fell to 14-6, suffering their second home loss of the season.

Jarret Jack had tied the game at 91-all with 5:06 left to play, only for the Heat's "Big Three" to collaborate on successive plays to build a 95-91 advantage.

The Warriors struck back via a Stephen Curry jumper with 2:35 left, followed by charities by David Lee, just under two minutes remaining, knotting the game anew.

The Heat went on to miss three triples in a row, one each from James, Ray Allen and Shane Battier, allowing the Warriors to call timeout with 11.4 ticks left. Draining the clock, Golden State rookie Draymond Green conned on his lay-up with 0.9 seconds remaining, as the home team's fans were stunned.

Still, the Heat had a chance to win it, quickly burning their final timeout, but James' turnaround jumper did not connect, giving the Warriors the win.

The two teams fought a fiercely-contested game, which featured 14 lead changes and 12 ties. Neither team also lead by more than single digits, with Golden State beginning the fourth with two quick scores, to give them their biggest advantage, seven points, 81-74.

Sophomore Klay Thompson had 27 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including five made triples, to lead the Warriors. David Lee added 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Jarret Jack came off the bench for 20 markers.

Point guard Stephen Curry had nine markers and seven assists, but turned the ball over six times.

The Heat drew a game-best 31 points from LeBron James, but the do-it-all forward came up with a mere three boards, five assists and a steal, versus four miscues. Chris Bosh had a double-double of 21 and 13, while Dwyane Wade shook off a neck injury to add 14. - AMD, GMA News
